During the first semester, we will be memorizing the top 55 word parts that make up words in English. Each week, you will be responsible for memorizing the meaning of 5 parts. You will also make flashcards for study like the ones shown below. On the front you will write the word part(s). On the back you will include the definition, examples, and a picture depicting the meaning. 5 cards will be due each week.

Introduction to Mythology
Watch the video below first, then read the introduction portion of Mythology: Timeless Tales of Gods and Heroes. Take Cornell style notes and create a top ten list, ranking the most important concepts about Greek Mythology. Use the study guide to answer basic comprehension questions related to the text as well. This will be due after reading chapters 1-4.

Ch 1 - 12 Great gods of olympus
An archetype is a recurring pattern, character, or image throughout literature. Annotate chapter 1 as you unearth 12 archetypes. How are the gods and goddesses of Mt Olympus reflected in today's literature and media? Use our class Padlet to cut-and-paste current media (images, videos, articles) that use the twelve archetypes discussed in class. Make sure to cite text from our readings to justify your observations. You may use this link to help narrow your focus.
Ch 2- Demeter - Tracing theme in text
For the first half of chapter 2, annotate text for emerging themes or messages you see regarding the tale of Persephone. At the end of the section, create a statement of theme that you have seen emerge from the text. Post this on our class Padlet below.

The monomyth Archetype Theory
